The people in these positions spend many volunteer hours on behalf of and in an effort to keep our
Neighborhood great. Here are their responsibilites:
Woodlea-Melrose Association Chair
- Responsible for overall business management of the Association
- Represents the views and vote of the Association
- Writes the agenda and chairs the Board and Association Meetings
- Writes “Chair Notes” Column in the Association Newsletter, Neighborhood News
- Attends community meetings to represent and benefit the Neighborhood
- Chairs one major Association EVENT
Woodlea-Melrose Association Vice-Chair
- Assists the Chairperson in the overall management of the Association (see above)
- Contributes regularly to the Association Newsletter, Neighborhood News
- Attends community meetings to represent and benefit the Neighborhood
- Chairs one major Association EVENT
Woodlea-Melrose Association Secretary
- Records and distributes Minutes from the Board and Association Meetings
- Responsible for official Association Correspondence
- Attends community meetings to represent and benefit the Neighborhood
- Chairs one major Association event
Woodlea-Melrose Association Treasurer
- Reports the Association finances at meetings and in the Association newsletters
- Collects and records annual dues and maintains an electronic roster of paid members
- Makes deposits and writes checks for reimbursements
- Renews Annual Corporation Commission documents
- Attends community meetings to represent and benefit the Neighborhood
- Chairs one major Association event
Woodlea-Melrose Association Information Officer
- Publishes Association Newsletter, Neighborhood News
- Prepares Ballots for Annual Elections
- Coordinates the maintenance of the Association website
- Attends community meetings to represent and benefit the Neighborhood
- Chairs one major Association event
Block Watch Coordinator
- Coordinates the research, writing and submission of the Block Watch grant funding application on behalf of the Association
- Reports on neighborhood crime and offers tips on prevention in the Association newsletter and website
- Acts as a liaison to Community Action Officers and organizes “Block Watch” events
Historic Preservation Coordinator
- Acts as a liaison to Historic Preservation Office to uphold historic status for Woodlea
- Seeks to obtain historic status for Melrose as resident historian
- Reports code violations to HPO and/or Neighborhood Services
Street Representative
- Delivers or co-ordinates delivery of newsletters to the street on which they live
- Represents Block Watch to distribute materials and collect information on safety and crime issues for their street
- Places sign in their yard to remind neighbors of upcoming events
- Delivers holiday luminaria candles and bags; participates in decorating their street signs
- Welcomes new neighbors moving on to their street with a new neighbor packet
- Collects association membership dues and delivers to the treasurer
